But there’s certainly a lot of gray area between wanting to be someone and being attracted to them. In my experience, at least, that gray area pretty much vanished after I actually came out! Haven’t felt that way since! But I digress!
The LA band Lucy & La Mer explore that confusing feeling in “Blue Dress.” It’s a breezy pop confection layered with banjos that digs into some very complex social dynamics. The song’s protagonist runs up against some confusing feelings at a house party, and the band launches into a full-fledged celebration of what will undoubtedly be a pivotal moment in this person’s life. “Blue Dress” is fun, catchy, and affectionate; a “welcome home” message to anyone who is celebrating their first Pride living out and having a ball.
